What can I expect?
Meeting with a counselor who has lived experience with autism can make all the difference.
At JoyCare Center, we understand that many autistic teens and adults have spent years feeling misunderstood, emotionally exhausted, isolated, or pressured to mask who they are just to fit into the world around them. Working with someone who genuinely understands the autistic experience can create a level of safety, connection, and validation that is difficult to find elsewhere.
Many people we support have spent years:
-
masking who they are
-
feeling socially exhausted
-
struggling to feel understood
-
overthinking conversations and relationships
-
feeling emotionally overwhelmed
-
experiencing sensory sensitivities
-
battling anxiety, shame, depression, or burnout
-
trying to fit into environments that never felt natural
-
navigating identity struggles or processing a late diagnosis
We believe every person is created with value, dignity, and purpose in the image of God. Some individuals come to counseling with a formal autism diagnosis. Others are only beginning to ask questions about why life has often felt harder, more overwhelming, or more isolating than it seems for others. Our desire is to provide a safe and compassionate space where individuals can experience support, healing, understanding, and hope through both professional care and the love of Christ.
